On some pages you have GREG.JPG and others have greg.jpg. Your PC is not case sensitive and it will display in any format. So remember yoyr sintax. Upper and lowercase in your html script has to match the image names. Regards Colm -- RENVIEW.COM(tm) Ireland. RENVIEW DIGITAL MEDIA. I have never seen anything like this before. last year december and november logs look normal activity. Could this be some Hacker activity in my system somehow??? What you can do is put a file called "robots.txt" in the root of your server that contains the following items in it: User-Agent: * Disallow: (directories to disallow) You may have any number of Disallow statements for each URL you wish to disallow, or put a slash to disallow the entire server. THe reason they are using so much bandwidth is because they're visiting all your pages and might be caught up on data that shouldn't be served, like dynamically-generated data or something like that. For more info on disallowing/allowing spiders, (and to specify what specific spiders to keep out) visit http://info.webcrawler.com/mak/projects/robots/robots.html Enjoy, Kris -- Kriston J. When they hit one of our sites, they have in the past brought it down in a screaming heap. Usually the symptom is maxing out the Max Threads, which I have set to a higher number to no avail. Our monitoring now catches these, but I recall before we had it in place, that our NT 2.1 AOLserver was prone to stopping for no apparent reason. This has now stopped. Hope this helps. After each reload the nsd process grew by either 8K or 16K, and it never seemed reach a steady state. I renamed the file to end in .html and did the same experiment, and the server did not grow at all after each reload. Is there a leak in the ADP mechanism? Thanks! Yes...we found and fixed a few ADP and External Driver (nsext.so) memory leaks that have now been incorporated into the 2.3 beta2 release. I would suggest upgrading to the 2.3 beta 2 (It seems pretty stable from the reports we've received) or writing a script to monitor the process and to restart the nsd when it grows beyond a certain SZ/RSS until the AS 2.3 final is released. o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o | Eric O'Laughlen e-mail: erico@aol.net| | AOL Web Development W: 703.918.2142 | o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o ========================================================================= Date: Fri, 9 Jan 1998 21:25:26 -0800 Reply-To: Web Development with AOLserver Sender: Web Development with AOLserver From: "Robert A. I am certain that this is the solution to your problem. However, there is a lot of room for error in deciding WHERE you set the LD_PRELOAD variable. Make sure that you set this variable in the same operating system environment from which you start the AOLserver. I remember we had a few problems with that. Hope this helps. Content-Type: text/plain Hello all! I noticed "ns_urlencode" now translates "_" into "%5f" or something like that. (It used to leave underscores alone.) Anyways, this causes problems when trying to insert into non-nullable columns that contain "_"s in the name (eg., last_name). The problem appears in the procedure "ns_dbformvalue" in forms.tcl at this line: set value [ns_set get $formdata ColValue.[ns_urlencode $column]] A column such as "last_name" gets translated into "last%5fname", and value gets set to "" or NULL. Is this a bug? Is the answer to... 1) change that line of code in ns_dbformvalue to: set value [ns_set get $formdata ColValue.$column] or 2) change my code to use "ns_urlencode" when passing column names to "ns_insertrecord", etc.? Answer 1) seems a little naive since "ns_urlencode" is used everywhere. So I may have answered my own question. :-) Thanks, Rob Locke ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ========================================================================= Date: Thu, 15 Jan 1998 08:11:43 -0500 Reply-To: Web Development with AOLserver Sender: Web Development with AOLserver From: Mark Dalrymple Subject: Re: AOLSERVER Digest - 13 Jan 1998 to 14 Jan 1998 Comments: cc: jbs@symo.com In-Reply-To: <199801150504.AAA23612@services.web.aol.com> (message from Automatic digest processor on Thu, 15 Jan 1998 00:04:09 -0500) > Why at the bottom of any CGI that uses the POST method do I see > lines similar to these: > Freeing 80b6c38 (58 bytes), allocated in functions/post.c on line 82 > Freeing 80b6c08 (4 bytes), allocated in hash.c on line 82 > Freeing 80b6ba0 (44 bytes), allocated in internal_functions.c on line 203 I don't know, but these seem to be coming from the CGI rather than AOLServer (there are no files named functions/post.c, hash.c, or internal_functions.c in AOLServer) If you've got the CGI source, you could delete the lines of code that are causing this. Yeah, we should document this: Syntax: ns_getcsv fileId varName ns_getcsv reads one row of CSV data from a file and sets the variable passed in to a list of the elements in that row, removing any quoting. It returns the number of elements in the row. * elements are separated by commas * lines are ended with either \n, \r, or \r\n * elements that contain commas, newlines, or carriage returns can be surrounded by double quotes (e.g., "foo, bar"). * double quotes can be escaped when inside double quotes by putting two double quotes (e.g., "Evander ""Real Deal"" Holyfield" * white space that isn't inside double quotes is ignored (e.g., bob, sarah, mary -> {bob sarah mary}) * null entries are OK, even at the end of a line (e.g., bob,,sarah, -> {bob {} sarah {}}) ========================================================================= Date: Wed, 21 Jan 1998 11:07:06 -0500 Reply-To: Web Development with AOLserver Sender: Web Development with AOLserver From: Ali kashefi Organization: IBM Subject: Java Security Error MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit I am using a Domino server, some Java applet and script works, others do run due to security error. First, as the author of the LUSENET software, I'm shocked and horrified that you managed to get it to run against Solid. How well does it work? Second, I don't think you are right about this ns_set limit. We use CLOBs in Oracle8 and they come back from Cotton's Oracle8 driver as an ns_set. The largest strings that Netscape Navigator can upload from a TEXTAREA (about 33KB) are certainly retrievable via the ns_db API. But that does raise a question for Doug: are there any limits on ns_sets? Number of keys? Size of values? Length of keys? You should look for MSIE instead of Mozilla to distinguish them from each other. Another thing you might want to do instead of ns_returnfile is to do an HTTP redirect to a new URL, like this: ns_returnredirect $conn "http://server.name.com/microsofttest.htm" Enjoy, Kris -- Kriston J. To do this, use the Tcl rename command and rename your ns_schedule_proc command to something like ns_schedule_proc_old. Now create your own ns_schedule_proc, in your own ns_schedule_proc you are going to store every procedure that is schedule in a global variable or (errrr..) ns_share. Then you can write a ns_list_scheduled_procs which parses the contents of that global variable or ns_share and displays what is scheduled Over here at am.net we do something very similar to get a list of registered urls and to what procedures they are registered to by renaming ns_register_proc. The code we use for renaming and redefining ns_register_proc is below... ----- BEGIN CODE ------- ######################### Renames ns_register_proc ####################### # Rename the ns_register procedure. Then defines a procedure named # ns_register_proc. Every time the new ns_register_proc is called # it writes the arguments to a global variable, this allows us to # see which URLS are registered, and what to. ######################################################################## catch {rename ns_register_proc ns_register_proc_old} proc ns_register_proc {args} { if {[lindex $args 0] == "-noinherit"} { set noinherit "-noinherit" set method [lindex $args 1] set url [lindex $args 2] set procs [lindex $args 3] set args [lrange $args 4 end] ns_register_proc_old -noinherit $method $url $procs $args } else { set noinherit "" set method [lindex $args 0] set url [lindex $args 1] set procs [lindex $args 2] set args [lrange $args 3 end] ns_register_proc_old $method $url $procs $args } global am_reg_urls set file [info script] set am_reg_urls($url|$method) "$procs $file $args $noinherit" } ----- END CODE ------- Ron Patterson wrote: > > Is there any way to find out what scheduled proc's (ns_schedule_proc, > etc.) are scheduled in the virtual server? Instead, those form elements must be name field1, field2, etc. That way, you can manipulate the values using the following structure: form.field1.value, form.field2.value. Any ideas?
